Cytosine modification (5hmC, 5mC) changes correlate with gene expression. Gene expression (bars), promoter DNA methylation (red line) and 5hmC gene body levels (blue dots) were assessed for CD19 (a), TNFRSF25 (b), FOXO1 (c), AZU1 (d) and RUNX1 (e). Gene expression levels were measured by real-time quantitative reverse transcription PCR and normalized to beta-actin levels. Promoter DNA methylation was assessed by bisulfite conversion and pyrosequencing. The percentage of methylation represents the average methylation of CpG sites in the region, and gene body 5hmC levels were measured by RRHP
